Strategy HCO4.5: Include a public health component in local comprehensive, land use, and transportation plans.

Strategy Description

This component would look at how a community is supporting health and wellness, such as a built environment that supports active living, access to healthy food, and access to education.

Additional Information / Case Studies

    • Recently, a Health Impact Assessment was completed as a component in Haywood County's Comprehensive Bicycle Plan.

    • The American Planning Association conducted a study and created a framework and identify successful tools and strategies to integrate health-related goals and policies in the comprehensive planning process. The report also includes specific case studies including the City of Raleigh.
